In today's world of instant information, every one of us needs to be on guard. Our adversaries are constantly making efforts to gather information critical to our operational capabilities.

This information doesn't have to be classified or sensitive.

A simple phone conversation about a deployment, or an e-mail detailing a shortage of certain supplies are key elements of friendly information that a trained observer can use to paint the larger picture of our capabilities.

The way to combat this threat is to follow good operations and communications security practices. OPSEC and COMSEC guidelines can be applied to any activity to deny critical information to the adversary.

Be careful of what you throw away in the trash. Also, look for people and objects that don't belong.

Whatever the case may be, if you see something suspicious, or even think you do, make a mental note and report it to our security forces or Office of Special Investigations.

Remember, practicing good OPSEC and COMSEC is everyone's responsibility. So do your part to safeguard critical information. Thank you for all you do Team Misawa!
