Legal Office

The Misawa Air Base Office of the Staff Judge Advocate provides high-quality legal advice and expertise in the areas of civil law, contract law, labor law, environmental law, claims and military justice for courts-martial and non-judicial punishment actions. The Office also provides legal assistance to individual military members, retirees and family members on personal, civil legal matters.

LEGAL ASSISTANCE & WILLS

The Legal Office provides free, confidential legal assistance on personal, civil legal matters to eligible clients of the 35 FW, including active duty or retired military members and their dependents. Examples of personal, civil legal matters include: wills, powers of attorney, immigration, domestic relations, and Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) matters.

Legal also provides legal advice on a full range of disciplinary matters to the wing commander, as well as to subordinate and tenant units. We enable commanders to uphold good order and discipline through the efficient and equitable administration of military justice, ranging from administrative actions to general courts-martial.

Legal Assistance attorneys can prepare wills and advance medical directives, including living wills and medical powers of attorney. If you wish to have an attorney prepare a will for you, please go to the Air Force Legal Assistance Website, complete the online worksheet, record the ticket number, and call our office to schedule an appointment.

Monday -- Thursday by appointment only

AREA DEFENSE COUNSEL

The Area Defense Counsel (ADC) provides individual Air Force members independent legal representation. Airmen facing adverse administrative actions or who are suspected of committing an offense under the Uniform Code of Military Justice can receive confidential legal advice outside of the 35th Fighter Wing chain-of-command. Do not contact the base legal office for these issues as everything you say can be used against you in court!
