    Brig. Gen. Leonard J. Kosinski, the 5th Air Force vice commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Kathleen McCool, 5th AF command chief, wrapped up their visit to Misawa Air Base, Japan, Nov. 24, 2020. During their two-day visit, Kosinski and McCool received mission briefs from various 35th Fighter Wing units and agencies, had the opportunity to meet and interact with Airmen, and learn about the various roles Team Misawa members play to keep their community safe.

    During the spring of 2020, the 35th Contracting Squadron solicited 35th Fighter Wing units for innovative ideas that would improve Airmen’s workplace, to present on Pitch Day. Pitch Day involves acquiring innovative technology from non-traditional defense contractors in order to keep pace with the ever-advancing business environment.
  • Misawa test cell Airmen run F-16 engines

    “It's extremely loud, windy and you can feel the whole building shake. You can feel the blood flowing through your body. It sort of makes it feel as though you're floating,” said Staff Sgt. Casey Jones, a 35th Maintenance Squadron test cell aerospace propulsion craftsman. “Standing inside the test bay while the engine is at full afterburner is a unique experience.” One can feel this sensation within the "Hush House", a building that is anything but what its name insinuates. "Hush House" is an F-16 Fighting Falcon engine testing facility.
  • Fire Prevention Week: Misawa firefighters serve up kitchen safety

    Team Misawa members participated in the annual Fire Prevention Week Oct. 4 to 10 at Misawa Air Base, Japan. The 35th Civil Engineer Squadron fire and emergency services hosted several activities involving engaging participation from both military and civilian personnel.
