Misawa community comes together for Tanabata Festival

A young girl plays with street decorations during a Tanabata Festival in Misawa, Japan, July 24, 2026. Tanabata, also known as the Star Festival, is held annually to commemorate the separated lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi on the one day of the year they are allowed to meet. Engaging in local customs and traditions allows Team Misawa to build and maintain partnerships and friendships within the local community. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Kelsey Owen)
