Valid forms of identification include a passport, driver's license, my number card, or a residence identification card.

All non-Japanese and non-U.S. visitors are required to bring a passport or other government issued photo ID.

  • Friendship Gate (Main Gate):
    1. 20 Sept. @ 2 am – 20 Sept. @ 7:30 am: Closed to vehicles; pedestrians only
    2. 20 Sept. @ 7:30 am – 7 pm: Airshow operations begin; pedestrians only
    3. Normal operations resume 20 Sept. @ 7 pm
  • Gettysburg Gate (Housing / Tower 115):
    1. 20 Sept. @ 2 am – 20 Sept. @ 7 pm: Inbound/outbound vehicles only
  • Falcon Gate (POL):
    1. 20 Sept. @ 7:30 am – 7 pm: Airshow operations begin; pedestrians only
    2. Normal operations resume 21 Sept. @ 5 am
  • Oka Gate:
    • 20 Sept. @ 0730 – 1730 pm: Airshow operations begin; pedestrians only
  • Road Closure:
    • Closed 19 Sept. @ 1400. Will resume normal operations 20 Sept. @1900

Facility Closures During Air Fest

AAFES Facilities Closure Information (September 20, 2026):

  • Misawa Air Base Exchange will be closed  
  • Food Court will be closed
    • Pizza Hut will be set up on the Flightline
    • Baskin Robbins, Charley’s, Einstein Bagels, Taco Bell and Subway will have booths set up on the grassy area adjacent to the food court
  • Burger King will be opened from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Popeyes will be opened from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • The Express Shoppette will be opened 24/7
  • Gas Station will be closed

AAFES facilities will resume normal hours of operation September 21, 2026.

The Misawa Air Base Commissary will be closed on Sunday, September 20, 2026 for Air Fest. On Monday September 21, the commissary will open with full service instead of self-checkout only.

AFN will broadcast Air Fest live on AM 1575 during the event
