Covering the cockpit

A U.S. Marine corpsman covers the cockpit of an F-35 Lightning II from Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, prior to the start of the Pacific Partners Air Festival at Misawa Air Base, Japan, Sept. 10, 2017. This is the first time in Misawa AB history an F-35 has landed here. The F-35 Lightning II is a 5th Generation fighter, combining advanced stealth with fighter speed and agility, fully fused sensor information, network-enabled operations and advanced sustainment. Three variants of the F-35 will replace legacy fighters for the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Marine Corps, and Japan Air Self-Defense Forces in 2018. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt.
