An F-16 Fighting Falcon assigned to Misawa Air Base, Japan, takes off at Komatsu Air Base, Japan, Nov. 12, 2014, in support of Aviation Training Relocation program operations. An ATR mission allows U.S. and Japanese forces the opportunity to practice and evaluate the coordination procedures and interoperability elements required to effectively and mutually respond to the defense of Japan. This Komatsu ATR is unique because it is in concurrence with Keen Sword -- an exercise held once every two years to test the way U.S. and Japanese ground, air and sea forces work together.
