Misawa members take on cold weather to run

MISAWA AIR BASE JAPAN -- Runners begin their race in front of Edgren High School on here May 19. Runners that have numbers are registered to run to promote May Fitness Month. Forty-nine runners braved the blistery cold and rainy weather to run either a 5 or 10 kilometers. The run was organized by Potter Fitness Center with the help of the Asian-Pacific Heritage committee. The first place male runner was Kristoffer Chacon, 35th Services Squadron, with a time of 38:40. The first place female runner was Valerie Bell, 35th Operations Support Squadron, with a time of 46:53. Also placing in second and third were in both categories were Benjamin Chirlin, 35th Civil Engineer Squadron, with a time of 40:34 and Teiichi Horiuchi, 35th CES, with a time of 41:39 in the male category. In the female category, second place went to Lori Grant, family member, with a time of 49:41 and in third placeTeresa Giustino, family member, with a time 49:36.
