U.S. Air Force Airmen with the 35th Fighter Wing staff agencies stand and salute at Misawa Air Base, Japan, Jan. 12, 2017. On July 26, 1948, former President Harry S. Truman signed an executive order declaring, “There shall be equality of treatment and opportunity for all persons in the armed services without regard to race, color, religion or national origin.” To this day, that legacy of inclusion continues in the U.S. armed forces for all who serve.
