I'm the 14th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron commander with the Fightin' Samurai code-a-phone message for the week of Jan. 22-29.

Everyone has begun to settle into the routine and are up to speed on our standard ops here.

This week the weather has been pleasant with mainly clear skies and highs in the mid 60s. However, it has rained several mortars. Fortunately, due to the awesome reporting systems and our expert training, we have had no injuries.

We have also dramatically reduced the number of accidental cuts and scrapes that were mainly due to lack of care with new knives and equipment.

We continue to do great work supporting the ground troops with our expert avionics, tactics and weapons employment.

The jets have begun to feel the impact of their new climate, but our awesome maintenance team has made sure we have not lost a sortie yet!

While I have heard rumors of us being delayed on our redeployment until early to mid-June, I implore you to treat them as nothing but rumor at this time. Rest assured, we will provide you with the most accurate data available as soon as we get it, but frankly, nobody here in any position of authority has our redeployment dates on their mind right now. We are doing our best to concentrate on accomplishing the task at hand.

That's it for this week. Thanks for calling and thanks for your support.
