Wild Weasel of the Week: Senior Airman Joshua Coonich

Each week a member of the 35th Fighter Wing is selected as the Wild Weasel of the Week. This individual is recognized based on superior performance, outstanding work ethic, overall good conduct and discipline.

The 35th Medical Operations Squadron chose Senior Airman Joshua Coonich, aerospace medical technician, from Schaumburg, Ill., as its Wild Weasel of the Week.

What's your daily mission?
Provide the best medical care to the Misawa community.

What do you enjoy about your job?
I enjoy the unpredictability -- every day there is something new and different.

Why did you choose to serve in the military?
I wanted to save lives. After working as a certified EMT in Chicago, I still wanted to serve others, so, naturally, I joined the military.

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from them?
Everyone in my unit mentors me in some way. I have told them all I want to cross train into pararescue, and they are eager to help me -- from being workout buddies to helping expand my knowledge in the medical field.

Time in Misawa:
Since April 2012.

Time in military:
About three years.

Greatest accomplishment:
My 35th Medical Group teammates and I were able to save a life.

Goals you want to achieve or meet while in Misawa:
I have been in Misawa for almost two years and have achieved many of the my goals to include earning 100 percent on the physical training test and continuously preparing to cross train into pararescue.

Hobbies:
Traveling and working out.

Dream duty station:
Anywhere I have never been before. Each place is a new adventure.

Lone Survivor, Act of Valor, and the Transformer series.

If you could spend one hour with any person, who would it be?
I would like to meet Will Smith, who embodies ambition, hard work, perseverance, patience, and all the traits you need to achieve your dreams.
