Wild Weasel of the Week: Tech. Sgt. Christine Crawford

MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan --  Each week a member of the 35th Fighter Wing is selected as the Wild Weasel of the Week. This individual is recognized based on superior performance, outstanding work ethic, and overall good conduct and discipline.

The 35th Medical Support Squadron Tech. Sgt. Christine Crawford, war reserve materiel and medical equipment management office NCO in charge, as its Wild Weasel of the Week.

What's your daily mission?
I provide the medical treatment facility with supplies and equipment to take care of the Misawa community.

What do you enjoy about your job?
I enjoy knowing the small things I do can help potentially save a life. I also enjoy the people I work with - we can laugh, joke and take care of business all at the same time. LOGDOGS: "Whatever it takes!"

Why did you choose to serve in the military?
I saw what great opportunities were offered to my father (retired master sergeant) and I also wanted to leave the area where I was living, Detroit.

What is your favorite thing about being in Japan?
The food and festivals.

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from them?
Sergeant Kirkland started off as my supervisor when I first arrived at Misawa. I was convinced he disliked me because he always would put me in situations outside my comfort zone or just give me more "work" as I saw it. It took me a while to realize what he was doing, but he was pushing me not only because he saw potential in me, but also to become a better NCO. I learned to "embrace the suck" and just try my best and set a good example for my Airmen.

What goals do you want to achieve or meet while in Misawa?
Complete my Bachelor's in Business Administration.
