Police Week events

May 15 has been National Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the week containing May 15 has been National Police Week (sometimes know as Police Memorial Week) since President John F. Kennedy signed Public Law 87-726 on October 1, 1962. 

The following events are planned for here:

May 14, 10 a.m. at Edgren High School
-- Military Working Dog demonstration
-- Safety briefing; emphasizing actions to various circumstances 

May 14, 4 p.m. at base exchange entrance
-- 35th Fighter Wing commander and McGruff the crime dog and escort
-- Award presentation for Misawa's 1st and 2nd grade coloring contest
-- Table top weapons systems displays
-- Photographs of Misawa's 35th Security Forces Squadron personnel at home station and abroad supporting the force protection mission
-- Vehicle displays

May 14, 4:30 p.m.- Child identification cards and finger printing
-- SFS personnel will issue custom-made identification cards, with color photograph and finger prints

May 15, 1 to 2:10 p.m. at Cummings Elementary School
-- McGruff gives out goodie bags and honorary McGruff Crime fighter badge

May 17, 4:30 p.m. at Risner Circle
-- Ajoint bi-lateral formal retreat ceremony with wreath laying in observance of all fallen law enforcement officers

May 18, 9:30 and 10 a.m. at Sollars Elementary School 
-- A military working dog demonstration for students

10:30 a.m. at Sollars Elementary School 
-- McGruff gives away goodie bags and honorary McGruff Crime fighter badges.
