A team of 35th Civil Engineer Squadron members will be expanding the search into marshland to see if there is any surface-level evidence of the device. The results of this search will drive the next steps the wing will take in this recovery. Further, 35th Fighter Wing leadership offered an official apology to the owner of the land yesterday and reconfirmed the wing’s dedication to determining the cause of the incident, resolving it as quickly as possible, and further ensuring the safety and security of our neighbors while we train alongside our allies in the mutual defense of Japan. We are extremely grateful to the landowner, Rokkasho Village, and the Tohoku Defense Bureau for their continued support.
