WILD WEASEL OF THE WEEK: Staff Sgt. Thomas Gonzalez



Each week a member of the 35th Fighter Wing is selected as the Wild Weasel of the Week. This individual is recognized based on superior performance, outstanding work ethic, and overall good conduct and discipline.

The 35th Maintenance Squadron chose Staff Sgt. Thomas Gonzalez, aircraft structural maintenance craftsman, to be their Wild Weasel of the Week.

What is your daily mission?
Provide aircraft structural maintenance support, and ensure the structural integrity and safety of flight in the accomplishment of the the 35th Fighter Wing's missions.

What do you enjoy about your job?
Being able to take a flat sheet of metal and form it into an aircraft part.

Why did you choose to serve in the Air Force?
Travel and go to school.

What is your favorite thing about living in Japan?
The traveling opportunities and learning about the culture.

Who has been your best mentor and what have they taught you?
In my time in the Air Force I've had quite a few that have left an impression on me.

How long have you been stationed at Misawa?
1 year

How long have you been in the Air Force?
Almost 9 years

What goals do you want to meet while at Misawa?
Take more classes and climb Mount Fuji.

What goals do you want to meet during your Air Force career?
Hopefully get my bachelor's degree and possibly do a special duty.

He is relied upon to provide sound judgment and ensure all maintenance is performed in a safe and timely manner. When an aircraft sustains structural damage, he and his team are called upon to swiftly repair the damage and return the aircraft in the least amount of time possible to ensure the 35th Maintenance Group and Squadron provide safe and reliable combat capable aircraft to meet the Wild Weasel "Fight Tonight" mission." - Master Sgt.
