USFJ, 5th Air Force commander visits Misawa Air Base

Mrs. Charlotte Rupp, spouse of U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Ricky Rupp, U.S. Forces Japan and 5th Air Force commander, visits the new playground at the Community Commons during a visit at Misawa Air Base, Japan, Aug. 7, 2023. During her visit, Mrs. Rupp discussed recent changes coming to Sollars Elementary, such as the 6th Grade Academy and Universal Preschool Program. The 6th Grade Academy aims to provide a transitional period for sixth graders before they go to middle school, better preparing them for success, while the Universal Preschool Program will open more schooling for preschool-aged kids at Misawa Air Base starting in the 2024-2025 school year.
