Airman 1st Class Dylan Martin and Airman Nickolas Kaltsunis, 13th Aircraft Maintenance Unit avionics journeymen, programs an electronic countermeasures (ECM) pod for training during Exercise Beverly Sunrise 21-08 at Misawa Air Base, Japan, Sept. 21, 2021. The ECM pod detects and identifies threats in a dense, complex threat environment with accurate parametric measurements. This allows the fighter pilot to have counter capability at a moment’s notice during a fire-fight and deceive radar, sonar, or other detection systems, like infrared or lasers.
