Local hero embodies 'kizuna'

Takuya Kanto, a civilian firefighter with the 35th Civil Engineer Squadron, shares his story of personal growth and pursuit of unity between the U.S. and Japan while working as a firefighter at Misawa Air Base, Japan, March 3, 2016. During his more than 20 years of firefighting on MAB, Kanto has bridged the gap between local Japanese citizens and American military members in order to strengthen relations between both nations. Kanto was also present for the Great East Japan earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan in March 2011. His volunteer efforts lead to the relief contributed by military and civilians worldwide.
