With over 50 years of service on Misawa Air Base, the 708th Military Intelligence Detachment will be deactivating their unit on October 28, 2014. The unit provided cryptological support to the base and has augmented operations in both Afghanistan and Iraq, in addition to assisting during 2011’s Operation Tomodachi during which a massive tsunami and 9.0 magnitude earthquake stuck the country of Japan.
