MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- Chief Master Sgt. Larry Similton, 35th Security Forces Squadron, runs laps at the Edgren High School track wearing a gas mask during the Air Force Ball 24-hour run-a-thon July 19, 2008. Chief Similton, 47, raised more than $200 while demonstrating the need for today's Airmen to recognize that they are members of a fighting force. He ran 21 laps in the gas mask and 20 without, and ran for a total of 90 minutes. Chief Similton joined the Air Force 27 years ago, and said, "If I can do this at my age, there's no reason the younger generation of Airmen shouldn't be Fit to Fight."
