Hot pit

MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- Senior Airman Johnathan Bren, 35th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, and Airman 1st Class Casey Kubik, 35th Logistics Readiness Squadron, secure a single point nozzle during the hot-pit refueling of an F-16, Nov. 10, 2008. Hot refueling, also known as a hot pit, is a procedure that allows the aircraft to refuel while the engines are still on, thus cutting the time needed to refuel by more than half.
