More than 800 Japanese and Misawa Air Base runners will participate in Race the Base half-marathon, 10K and 5K events Sunday, starting and finishing at the Friendship Gate and American Park area. In preparation for the event, The Friendship Gate will close to vehicle traffic at 12 a.m. Sept. 26 and will reopen at 6 p.m. Sept. 27. Therefore, SOFA members who park between American Park and Friendship Gate Friday night must move their vehicles by midinght.
