MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- Japanese show their guests how to cook it yourself. Japanese come from all over Japan to enjoy Takko Town's annual beef and garlic festival. The Texas barbecue Japanese style is in its 22nd year. The town is famous for not only for its Japanese Black cows, but also for being the number No. 1 producer of garlic. Attendees can watch competitions such as garlic sumo wrestling, garlic spitting contest and the Nanyadoyar Yosakio Soran and Kangura dances. Tickets for the festival go on sale soon at Misawa Information, Tickets and Tours. Misawa base residents can save money by buying advanced tickets for the event scheduled for Sept. 29-30. This year Misawa ITT is offering a shuttle bus to take participants to the festival. For more information call 226-3555. (Courtesy photo)
