MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan – Japan Air Self-Defense Force Airman Basic Masoki Nasio, directs traffic here Sept. 4. The Japan Air Self-Defense Force and the 35th Fighter Wing, with associated tenant units, hosted more than 100,000 attendees at Misawa's annual air fest. Air Fest 2011 was an opportunity for visitors to see eight aerial demonstrations with 19 static displays of JASDF, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy aircraft and private operators. Air Fest 2011 also marked the last flight of Miss Veedol, a single engine aircraft that in 1931 flew non-stop across the Pacific Ocean from Sabishiro Beach, Misawa, Japan to Wenatchee, Washington, U.S. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech.
