Misawa Air Base Celebrates 32nd Annual Air Fest
MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan—A customer receives pizzas from a vendor that prepared more than 1,200 pizzas in preparation for Misawa’s 32nd annual air fest here Sept.4. The Japan Air Self-Defense Force and the 35th Fighter Wing, with associated tenant units, hosted more than 100,000 visitors at the air fest, which was an opportunity for visitors to see eight aerial demonstrations with 19 static displays of JASDF, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy aircraft and private operators. Air Fest 2011 also marked the last flight of Miss Veedol, a single engine aircraft that in 1931 flew non-stop across the Pacific Ocean from Sabishiro Beach, Misawa, Japan to Wenatchee, Washington, U.S. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech.
