MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan - American Girl Scouts welcome Japanese Girl Scouts to International Scout Day at a Hangar here Oct. 1. International Scout Day is a local celebration of bilateral friendships and cooperation. Japanese and U.S. Scouts have annually gathered at Misawa Air Base since 1959, but the first official International Scout Day occurred in 1992.
