American and Japanese Boy and Girl Scouts participate in a sack race during International Scout Day at a Hangar, Misawa Air Base, Japan, Oct. 1. International Scout Day is a local celebration of bilateral friendships and cooperation. Japanese and U.S. Scouts have annually gathered at Misawa Air Base since 1959, but the first official International Scout Day occurred in 1992.
