A Post Attack Reconnaissance (PAR) stanchion sits outside during Exercise Beverly Sunrise 26-1 at Misawa Air Base, Japan, Oct. 16, 2025. The PAR stanchions serve as fixed monitoring sites where Airmen record contamination levels, track exposure times and mark hazardous areas following simulated chemical or radiological attacks. Positioned across the installation, they provide the first layer of critical data that informs command and control decisions, allowing leaders to assess the extent of damage, allocate recovery teams and determine safe routes for continued operations. During Beverly Sunrise 26-1, these readings represented the initial flow of post-attack information essential to restoring base functionality and sustaining mission generation under degraded conditions.
