Pulse rate response - MCC keeps deployed members ready Published March 18, 2007 By Staff Sgt Vann Miller 35th Fighter Wing public affairs MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- Getting the right people to the scene of an emergency is a crucial part of mission success, and it's the job of the Medical Control Center that makes that very idea a reality. When disaster strikes things can become chaotic in a matter of moments, according to one official. It takes a well thought out plan and a complete understanding of a situation to minimize loss and improve survivability. "The role of the Medical Control Center is to assess the situation and determines which operations will be continued from the control center, which will be delegated to the field," said Maj. AnnMarie McCain, 35th Medical Support Squadron. Here at Misawa it's the responsibility of Col. Mary Armour, the 35th Medical Group commander, to direct all internal operations of the hospital. This includes activating contingency teams, dispatching response teams and coordinating all response activities "We manage and direct personnel and equipment resources that are required for each particular response," said Staff Sgt. Nina Sellers, 35th MDSS. The MCC manages lots of pertinent information which help paint a better picture of what their teams are faced with. Not only are they provided details about the accident and incident sites and dispatch applicable medical response teams, they also track and control casualty movements. "Our mission is basically to get the right people with the right material to the right place at the right time!" said Senior Airman Judy Peterson, 35th MDSS. "We are the grease that makes this engine run!" said Capt. Stacey Krishna, 35th Medical Operations Squadron.
