We talk all the time about being good wingmen. Usually that means our fellow Airmen. But we should also be thinking of extending wingmanship to our families as well.

We're in deployment season here. We will have several hundred family members remaining at Misawa who will need wingmen support. We have all learned it's not just servicemembers who bear the stress of deployments - it is family members as well.

We want every deployed family to know that you have a base full of Misawa wingmen. Most of the people in our community have been in the position you're in right now. You need to know that day or night, 24/7, we're here for you. All you have to do is ask.

Commanders, supervisors, first sergeants, and readiness assistance volunteers are here to help you. There are specific agencies that can help like the Airman and Family Readiness Center, the chapel and life skills.

We all know that the military lifestyle can be stressful, but with perseverance and the help of good wingmen, we can help provide encouragement, support and hopefully see at the light at end of the tunnel.
