Keep your focus Published Feb. 11, 2007 By Col. T.J. O'Shaughnessy 35th Fighter Wing commander MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- The 35th Fighter Wing just successfully completed our last ORE prior to the Operational Readiness Inspection in march. First of all, I would like to take this time to say thank you for your hard work - your professionalism and dedication to the mission is very apparent. Secondly, I'd like to ask everyone to remain focused. Use this time to fine-tune and put the final touches on your processes and procedures prior to the inspection in March. Keep reviewing your ATSO, self-aid and buddy care procedures and checklists. Now is the time to take full accountability for the important part you play in the overall effort. Remember, we aren't exercising just to exercise. We are rehearsing for our wartime tasking. What you have just accomplished on the ORE is how we would deploy and employ if called to do so by our senior leadership in the defense of Japan or South Korea. The upcoming ORI is Misawa's opportunity to show PACAF that we are prepared to execute our wartime taskings. I have no doubt the men and women of Misawa will knock the ball out of the park during the ORI. The key is to remain focused. Keep your mind in the game and keep your focus on the mission. This is our chance to showcase our combat and combat support capability to the PACAF leadership. Good luck Misawa.
