ORI prep -- remaining focused Published Feb. 26, 2007 By Col. T.J. O'Shaughnessy 35th Fighter Wing commander MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- As we get closer to the Operational Readiness Inspection in March, I'd like to emphasize a few key areas that you can work on over the next few weeks. You've heard me tell you to "remain focused" several times already and I'd like to expand on that message. Remaining focused on the ORI requires you to communicate with your subordinates and supervisors. This means reviewing processes with each other, discussing areas for improvement, practicing table top scenarios and reviewing your Airman's Manual. The key in communicating effectively is to make sure that everyone involved "knows what you know." Remember - you can't "over-communicate." Another aspect of remaining focused for ORI success is to adopt a strong sense of urgency. You should practice the way you play and train the way you fight. If we were really going to war as a wing, how would we react? That's a question you should ask yourselves and respond accordingly. Remember to remain focused, communicate and have a sense of urgency in all aspects of the ORI and you'll do great. Thank you for all you do Team Misawa.
