Staying active and physically fit can be tough when you're balancing responsibilities at work, school and at home.

It can be especially tough as we move closer to the holiday season, where winter weather is right around the corner. Don't let the cold stop you from staying in shape and staying active.

The base fitness centers are available for your use. You can also take advantage of all that outdoor recreation has to offer here in northern Japan, like skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding and site-seeing. In fact, we have snowshoeing and cross-country skiing here on base at the golf course.

While it is important to remain active and physically fit during the winter, it is equally as important to be safe. This means wearing the proper clothing based on the temperatures outside. Also, as the roads start to get icy, slow down your driving speeds and ensure your tires are in good working order.

Your health and safety are important to me. Every one of you are vital to mission accomplishment here at Misawa, so I encourage all of you to start thinking about how you're going to stay active, healthy and safe this winter.
