Education is key for Airmen Published Jan. 15, 2008 By Col. T.J. O'Shaughnessy 35th Fighter Wing commander MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- As the most technologically superior and powerful Air Force in the world, we are all aware that we must maintain our intellectual superiority. This takes a lifelong commitment to education for all Airmen - both officer and enlisted. Beginning in 2008 advanced degrees earned by officers will no longer be masked from promotion boards. This means it's important to start work towards your master's degree as soon as you can. Some Airmen on base are already on their way to an advanced degree. Hundreds of Airmen graduate from the Community College of the Air Force every week earning their associates degrees. This leads them to begin working towards their bachelor's degree, and if you haven't done so already, I encourage you to do the same. With the help of our base education office, distance learning and taking classes on-base is easy to do - call 226-4201 for more information. Time management is the key when balancing work, family and education. It may be tough at first but it can be done. Education can open doors - so I encourage all of you to get started today.
