Readiness is key to IRRE success Published Feb. 7, 2008 By Col. T.J. O'Shaughnessy 35th Fighter Wing commander MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- This week the men and women of the 35th Fighter Wing, and even some members from the MSOC and Naval Air Facility, will be focused on the year's first Initial Readiness Response Exercise, or IRRE. The wing has an outstanding track record for readiness and for your warrior spirit. I expect nothing less of you this time around. These exercises are designed to test our effectiveness as a war-fighting unit and hone our skills as expeditionary Airmen. Our readiness helps secure the peace here in northern Japan and enables us to defend our nation anywhere around the world. During the exercise, be sure to help those new to Misawa by showing them the ropes. Also, pay close attention to safety because you will be surging, working at a faster pace with longer hours. If everyone works together as a team, this exercise will be a resounding success. I appreciate the dedication and sacrifice you and your families make to keep the mission running here at the base. So once the exercise is complete, be sure to take time to relax with your families and friends. Thank you for all you do and keep up the great work Misawa!
