Together we can prevent sexual assault

MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan --  April has been designated as sexual assault awareness month. This month we commit to raising awareness and promoting the prevention of sexual violence through the use of special events and public education. 

The Department of Defense's theme for this month is "Prevent Sexual Assault: Ask! Act! Intervene!" This theme focuses on the ability of every servicemember to prevent sexual assault by taking an active role and looking out for the welfare of friends and co-workers. 

We have programs across the military dedicated to victim care, training and prevention, and system accountability. I ask that you help renew the DoD commitment to sexual assault prevention by participating in the events and awareness activities this month.
