  • Published
Each week, a member of the 35th Fighter Wing is selected as the Wild Weasel of the Week. These individuals are handpicked by their leadership to be recognized for their superior performance, outstanding work ethic and overall good conduct and discipline.

Senior Airman Christian Ashley, 35th Operations Group Combat Intelligence Cell Analyst, is the WWOW for the week of Jan. 20. Ashley is from Killeen,  Texas.

What's your favorite thing about being stationed in Japan?
I love the snowboarding here in Japan as well as the cultural differences that I can only experience here.

What is your primary professional goal at this point in your career?
My primary professional goal is to complete my BA in Intelligence Operations. I only have eight more months to finish this degree.

What motivates you?
Just being alive and blessed to be fortunate. You only have one life and the ability to see where I can end my chapter in life motivates me.

Leadership's thoughts:
"Senior Airman Ashley excelled at updating the commander and his staff on political and military updates that affect the 35 FW mission," said Ashley's supervisor Tech. Sgt. Daniel Roshio. "He was our lead briefer, no matter what we needed analyzed and briefed. Additionally, he excelled at analyzing enemy surface-to-air weapon systems so he achieved additional certifications and was selected for duty at the 14th Fighter Squadron.

"If I have to choose a specific achievement for Ashley, I would pick his certification of External Intelligence Trainer," he continued. "It's a grueling seven-part evaluation process in which the one must analyze and brief seven different types of weapon systems or topics. He completed this evaluation process with high marks and was awarded the EIT certification. The EIT cert is not something all our analysts obtain and is very difficult to achieve. He was selected because of his ability to analyze enemy weapon systems, his excellent work ethic, and his ability to figure out how to get the mission accomplished regardless of manning,"
