Each week a member of the 35th Fighter Wing is selected as the Wild Weasel of the Week. This individual is recognized based on superior performance, outstanding work ethic, and overall good conduct and discipline.

The 35th Maintenance Squadron chose Senior Airman Michael F. Seery, F-16 Phase Inspection Team Member from Largo, Fla., as its Wild Weasel of the Week.

What's your daily mission?
To perform quality inspections and maintenance of F-16s, so they can return to flying status with minimal downtime.

What do you enjoy about your job?
I really like being part of a team. It doesn't matter if I am performing an easy inspection or a challenging task. It's really nice to be a part of a group with all difference levels of expertise. When there is ever a question or problem, I can always count on the rest of my team for help.

Why did you choose to serve in the military?
I have always wanted to be in a profession that would be able to help and influence others. I have also  wanted to be around jets since I was little, and I cannot think of a better way to achieve both goals.

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her:
My dad. He has always been there for me growing up in the good times and the bad. He has always been my rock, never letting me give up and always encouraging me to "go for the top." My Ddd has always been the person to push me to be better and stronger.

Time in Misawa:
Since January 2012

Time in military:
3 years

Greatest accomplishment:
Before joining the military, I was given the opportunity to teach percussion at the high school I graduated from. After several years of hard work, we were able to win the state championship setting a record high-score for Indoor Percussion Performance.

Goals you want to achieve or meet while in Misawa:
I want to take advantage of being overseas and embrace the culture as much as possible. Another personal goal of mine is to continue with my education.

Hobbies:
I love performing and writing music, drawing, sightseeing and exploring.

Dream duty station and why:
My dream duty station would have to be MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.. It would give me a chance to still serve my country while being close to family.

Favorite Quote:
"Success is a journey, not a destination."

Favorite movies:
I am a big fan of the Back to the Future trilogy. Other favorites would have to include Oblivion, Man of Steel, August Rush and the Die Hard series.

If you could spend one hour with any person, who would it be and why:
Hans Zimmer, the film composer. He is one of my favorite composers. I would love to sit down with him and talk about anything and everything music.

Squadron motto:
Perpetuo Consummati!

Supervisor's remarks:
"Senior Airman Seery is an exemplary F-16 technician and a well-rounded Airman. He is always first up to tackle the many complex jobs we have in phase. Senior Airman Seery always comes to work with a smile and assists his team to accomplish the mission of F-16 phase inspections by returning a quality product to the flightline, so the jet can accomplish its mission. He has awesome humanitarian instincts. He selflessly volunteers at local schools offering his musical expertise, enriching their programs and the minds of youth. Senior Airman Seery encompasses what it takes to be the Wild Weasel of the Week!"
