Each week a member of the 35th Fighter Wing is selected as the Wild Weasel of the Week. This individual is recognized based on superior performance, outstanding work ethic, and overall good conduct and discipline.

The 35th Communications Squadron chose Staff Sgt. Michael Pfeiffer, a cyber transport systems supervisor from Asheville, N.C., as its Wild Weasel of the Week.

What's your daily mission:
I operate a technical control facility governed by the Defense Information Systems Agency. We are the equivalent of a Department of Defense internet service provider and are responsible for providing more than 140 various voice, data and video connections to our customers at Misawa.

What do you enjoy about your job:
I enjoy the challenge because there are no "simple" jobs when deploying a router or switch. Being able to fully understand why something is not working then being able to fix it is truly rewarding.

Why did you choose to serve in the military:
I wanted to further my education and find some direction in life.

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her:
Retired Chief Master Sgt. Frank Dannals, Air Force Central Command chief enlisted manager, was a major influence in my life. He taught me to do my best no matter what and always take care of my people.

Time in Misawa:
11 months.

Time in military:
7 years.

Greatest accomplishment:
Being able to visit different countries, like Afghanistan, South Korea, Southwest Asia, Kuwait and Germany.

Goals you want to achieve or meet while in Misawa:
Finish my Bachelor of Science in computer information systems.

Hobbies:
I enjoy reading, weight lifting, hiking and trying new foods.

Dream duty station and why:
I can't pick one base in particular because each duty station has good and bad qualities. It's more or less what you make of it.

Favorite Quote:
"I think the health of our civilization, the depth of our awareness about the underpinnings of our culture and our concern for the future can all be tested by how well we support our libraries." - Carl Sagan

Favorite movies:
Lawrence of Arabia, Apocalypse Now, Dr. Strangelove, American Beauty and The Razor's Edge

If you could spend one hour with any person, who would it be and why:
Warren Buffett, because I have no doubt it would be an interesting conversation.

Squadron motto:
Comm Rocks!

Supervisor's remarks:
"Pfeiffer's initiative and intelligence has quickly transformed Misawa's cyber network. He possesses unrivaled technical skills that make working with outside cyber agencies a breeze. It is an absolute pleasure having Pfeiffer on the team ready to support our customers." - Senior Master Sgt. Aaron Sanchez, 35 CS operations flight superintendent.
