A highly visible motorcycle vest with reflective material must now be worn on top of a long sleeve shirt in a recent change to Air Force Instruction 91-207. All motorcycle riders at Misawa Air Base must also wear a safety approved helmet, full finger gloves, sturdy over-the-ankle shoes, and long pants before they can operate a motorcycle. MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- The motorcycle riding season started recently at Misawa Air Base, Japan. Twenty-nine service members participated in the sportbike rider's safety class April 21-25, 2014. Two motorcycle instructors from Kadena Air Base, Japan, helped teach Misawa Airmen the basics of motorcycle safety and techniques to keep them safe. Instructions include pre-ride inspections, how to identify risks, emergency braking, cornering techniques, and changes in Air Force regulations.
