What's your daily mission?
We are responsible for providing tactical command and control to enhance situational awareness and direction to aid in F-16 fighter targeting. We are their eyes and ears. When they can't see, we guide pilots to intercept enemy aircraft, as well as help them stay safe in the airspace.

What do you enjoy about your job?
There's no other enlisted job like it. We get to be the fifth wingman to the fighters.

Why did you choose to serve in the military?
The same reason many joined...to serve my country; however, I enjoy the networking and I have a lifelong goal of giving back to people, worldwide and local from within the military.

What is your favorite thing about being in Japan?
Having the opportunity to experience a different side of the world and traveling.

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her?
I have too many great mentors to just name one. I have learned many positive things from them and they have helped me be the positive person I am today.

Time in Misawa:
4 months

Time in military:
9 months

Goals you want to achieve or meet while in Misawa?
Pass my career development course final with a 100 percent, get Airman Below the Zone, and start my education. Most of all I want to give back to the base and Japanese community.

Supervisor's remarks:
"Airman 1st Class Segears showed up directly from technical school and completed training in about half the allotted time, which really helped our manning. He continues to make progress and gain experience and will enter instructor training in the near future. Segears has made it easy as a supervisor because I know that he will always get the job done when asked. He has a bright future ahead of him." - Tech. Sgt. Jacob Abbott, 610 Air Control Flight director of operations.
