Each week a member of the 35th Fighter Wing is selected as the Wild Weasel of the Week. This individual is recognized based on superior performance, outstanding work ethic, and overall good conduct and discipline.

The 373rd Support Squadron chose Senior Airman Jonathan Bagby, Mission Installation and Antenna Team technician, as its Wild Weasel of the Week.

What's your daily mission?
As a Mission Installation and Antenna Team technician at the Misawa Security Operations Center, my daily mission is to install and maintain network, power, and grounding infrastructure. I also perform intelligence mission systems installations, relocations and removals, and enforce engineering and installation standards. Furthermore, I execute unscheduled and preventive maintenance on more than 30 site antennas and communications systems, as well as provide host base antenna maintenance support.

What do you enjoy about your job?
I enjoy installing and removing networking infrastructure. You can physically see all of the work that you have done when you remove the infrastructure.

Why did you choose to serve in the military?
Because my grandfather is a retired Air Force master sergeant and I wanted to travel the world.

What is your favorite thing about being in Japan?
The culture. Their food is amazing and they are always polite.

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her?
Staff Sgt. Stamey and Senior Airman Leu are my favorite mentors. They taught me everything I know and without their superior job knowledge and patience I would not be as proficient as I am today. They guided me through the work center and taught me that it is good to know about other career fields because you never know when you might have to do their job.

Time in Misawa:
Almost 2 years.

Time in military:
Almost 3 years.

Goals you want to achieve or meet while in Misawa?
I plan on taking another trip to see northern Japan and spend more time with my wife.

Supervisor's remarks:

His attention to detail and extreme dedication to the mission make him an integral part of this work center and the United States Air Force. He is also highly dedicated to volunteering within the local community and during the last quarter has contributed more than 330 hours to the local Boy Scouts and 80 hours coaching youth soccer." - Tech. Sgt. Mathew Rampenthal, Mission Installation and Antenna Team NCO in charge.
