Each week a member of the 35th Fighter Wing is selected as the Wild Weasel of the Week. This individual is recognized based on superior performance, outstanding work ethic, and overall good conduct and discipline.

The 35th Logistics Readiness Squadron chose Airman 1st Class Shaun Tant, fuel systems operator, as its Wild Weasel of the Week.

What's your daily mission?
To provide first class fuel support to the 35th Fighter Wing.

What do you enjoy about your job?
I like the fact the people I work with have become more like a family than coworkers and I also enjoy meeting people from all over the world when servicing their aircraft during a fueling operation.

Why did you choose to serve in the military?
Most of my family served in the military when I was growing up. Joining the Air Force was my way of giving back to them and to others who have served before me.

What is your favorite thing about being in Japan?
Being able to interact with the Japanese community and being able to immerse myself in their culture.

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her?
My father. He taught me how to tie my shoes, ride a bike, and how to live my life for other people. He used to tell me all the time that, "God's gift to you is talent, what you do with that talent is your gift to God."

Time in Misawa:
1 year

Time in military:
1 year

Goals you want to achieve or meet while in Misawa?
I'd like to get Senior Airman Below The Zone and be a great ambassador for the United States while I'm stationed here.

Supervisor's remarks:
"Airman 1st Class Shaun Tant is a whole-package Airman. He brings to the table positivity, personality and a great sense of humor that lifts morale and brings out the best in those around him, while also displaying a military bearing that is above reproach. In his short time here, he has already earned the Diamond Sharp award for outstanding professionalism and character, as well as the flight's prestigious Pumper of the Month award, rising above his peers to issue more than 100,000 gallons of fuel in June. He is an extremely gifted multi-sport athlete, representing the 35th Logistics Readiness Squadron on the flag football, basketball, softball, and soccer intramural teams. He was also selected to play for the base-wide Misawa Jets basketball and soccer teams. His maturity and dedication to the mission have been vital to the success of our flight and the 35th Fighter Wing." - Senior Master Sgt. Scott Chandler, Fuels Management Flight Superintendent.
