Wild Weasel of the Week: Staff Sgt. Devon Brown

Each week a member of the 35th Fighter Wing is selected as the Wild Weasel of the Week. This individual is recognized based on superior performance, outstanding work ethic, and overall good conduct and discipline.

The 35th Maintenance Squadron chose Staff Sgt. Devon Brown, aerospace ground equipment craftsman, as its Wild Weasel of the Week.

What's your daily mission?
I inspect, repair, and service 500 pieces of aerospace ground equipment valued at $22 million to maintain and support all F-16CM Fighting Falcon aircraft.

What do you enjoy about your job?
Turning wrenches, as well as removing and replacing broken nonworking parts and sending operational equipment back to the flight line.

Why did you choose to serve in the military?
I wanted to explore outside of Ohio and figured the Air Force was the best way to do that, all while making a difference.

What is your favorite thing about being in Japan?
Experiencing a new culture, as well as all the food.

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her?
Master Sgt. O'Brien, he taught me how to look at the bigger picture of our job and not just the immediate results.

Time in Misawa: 7 months

Time in military: 6 years

Goals you want to achieve or meet while in Misawa?
I want to finish my bachelor's degree and make the rank of technical sergeant.
