Earlier this week, the Protestant Parish of the Misawa Air Base Chapel hosted a Bible reading event called Thankful for the Word. Volunteers from the Chapel, off base churches, and throughout the Misawa Community signed up for a one-hour time slot to collectively read through the Bible aloud, cover to cover. The intention of this event was to promote spiritual health, biblical literacy, and to foster unity within the Misawa Air Base Community.  After nearly 80 hours of reading, the Bible was then dedicated for use in Chapel Worship Services. Among the many services the Chapel offers are Sunday morning Catholic Mass at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., Traditional and Contemporary Protestant services at 11 a.m. and 5:35 p.m. The Chapel also offers religious educations programs and confidential counseling by appointment.
