Cyber Readiness Inspection at Misawa set for early May Published April 28, 2015 By 2nd Lt. Jacob Swink 35th Communications Squadron MISAWA AIR BASE, JAPAN -- Misawa Air Base's readiness will be tested during the week of May 11-15, when the Defense Information Systems Agency will conduct an intense Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI) of its computer networks, classified processing areas, and organization-specific systems. A DoD level inspection team will conduct technical system security reviews and assess compliance with USCYBERCOM directives. Although the 35th Communications Squadron is leading the base preparation efforts, this isn't an inspection of a single unit, but rather an inspection of the entire installation. Each member has critical part to play in securing networks and information, and assessments of multiple work centers will impact the overall result of the inspection. Here are some key points to remember to ensure cyber readiness: - Protect classified information by knowing and using local processing procedures - Do not leave your Common Access Card or SIPR token in an unattended system - Keep wireless devices away from classified processing areas and systems - Do not connect USB devices to the network without authorization from your Information Assurance Manager (IAM) - Know your unit Information Assurance Officer & Security Manager; they can assist you with information assurance and protection All organizations and users are encouraged to remain vigilant with respect to computer security and information assurance. Protecting information systems ensures their confidentiality, integrity and availability so that Misawa can remain ready to fight tonight. For more information, contact your unit IAO, Security Manager, the Wing Information Assurance Office, or the Wing Information Protection Office.
