Update: Misawa Airman killed in motorcycle accident Published March 18, 2016 35th Fighter Wing Public Affairs MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- A major motor vehicle accident occurred March 17 in Misawa City at 10:50 p.m. causing the death of Airman 1st Class Dalton J. Latham, 22, a 35th Civil Engineer Squadron member. While off-duty, Latham was riding a motorcycle near the Misawa fishing port when he lost control and collided with a pole. First responders rushed him to the hospital. Latham died on March 18 at 12 a.m. "We are grieving a deeply felt loss today," said Col. Timothy J. Sundvall, the 35th Fighter Wing commander. "Our heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased and all those affected by this tragedy. Airman Latham's death is a huge loss to our community and he will be sorely missed." The incident remains under investigation. Further details will be released as they become available.
