This week’s Wild Weasel of the Week (WWoW) is Airman 1st Class Josue Escobar-Payes, 35th Fighter Wing Staff Agency command post controller.

Airmen selected as WWoW represent the top performers from Misawa Air Base, recognized for their dedication, mission impact and embodiment of U.S. Air Force core values.

“Being recognized as the Wild Weasel of the Week is truly humbling,” Escobar-Payes said. “My success is not my own, but only possible with the comrades I walk side by side with. The Command Post team is always there for the wing and the mission.”

Escobar-Payes distinguished himself by managing command and control for a 20-day strategic airlift surge, coordinating 26 aircrews and 41 sorties across five Combatant Commands. His efforts ensured critical cargo delivery and supported deterrence operations in the area of responsibility.

He also served as guidon bearer for six hours during the Memorial Day march and 24-Hour Remembrance Vigil, honoring fallen service members and fostering unity across the base.

Through tireless dedication and countless hours of effort, Escobar-Payes has gone above and beyond—balancing demanding mission responsibilities with volunteer service, all while upholding the highest standards of excellence within the 35th Fighter Wing.
