Misawa network users are encouraged to attend informational briefings Jan. 25 to learn more about the capabilities of Microsoft SharePoint, which many organizations in the U.S. government and industry have already started to implement to increase productivity.

Mircosoft SharePoint is a new network tool which allows users to easily collaborate with others while offering powerful document management capabilities. This product is a natural extension of the desktop because it easily integrates with other Microsoft Office applications.

All briefings will be held Jan. 25 in the Mustu O'Club Ballroom. Briefing times are 8 to 9 a.m., 9 to 10 a.m., and 10 to 11 a.m. in the Mustu O'Club Ballroom. These briefings are open to all Misawa network users.

Microsoft SharePoint will allow users on the Misawa network to create web sites with custom links, announcements, surveys, discussion groups, and perform document management with anyone within Pacific Air Forces. Users can also grant Web site access to specific individuals or groups within the PACAF enterprise. No longer is a single person responsible for adding, deleting, and editing information on a web page. Information owners manage and update their own content with real-time changes. As soon as a change is made, everyone who has access to the page can view the most up-to-date information. Data is stored in a central location providing the ideal outlet for project collaboration. Additionally, very little training is necessary to start using this tool.

Users can also visit to see how this technology is currently being used.
