MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan --  DoDDS Pacific 2007-2008 School calendar -- Attached is the overall calendar for the three base schools -- each individual school will set their own training and in-service dates (those dates are released in the school newsletters and the Edgren High School daily bulletin). Reminder for Cummings Elementary School parents -- The start time for Cummings this year will be 8 a.m. with dismissal at 2:25 p.m. In addition, each Wednesday, Cummings will dismiss one hour early at 1:25 p.m. for teacher training. Please plan accordingly.

Free and reduced lunch applications -- Free and reduced lunch applications are currently being accepted for this school year. If you received benefits last year, you must reapply each year. Because of a guidelines change at the end of last school year, more children may qualify. All ranks can apply; however, if you are an E-7 with less than 17 years of service, at least two children, and a non-employed spouse - chances are you will qualify (higher ranks with more children may also qualify). COLA and OHA do not count as income under this program. Applications can be picked up at the main office of each school, AAFES Customer Service Area, Airmen and Family Readiness Center, or by e-mailing rebecca.duncan@misawa.af.mil or call Rebecca Duncan 226-2809. Sure Start Pre-School program -- All E-1's to E-4's with children who will be 4 -years-old by October 31, the Sure Start Pre-School Program is accepting applications for the upcoming 2007-2008 school year. If you have a child that will be 4 years old by October 31, your child may be eligible to participation in Sure Start (modeled after the Head Start program stateside). Children of E-1's - E-4's are first priority; however, children of E-5's and E-6's are taken on a space-available basis. There are only 18 slots available at each elementary school.
